From the day I picked up mom's Kodak Brownie Fiesta, I was hooked. Now, forty years later, I've traded the darkroom for Photoshop. And even if my hands are constantly wrapped around a 36MP full-frame Nikon D800, like a first kiss, that little Brownie will always have a special place in my heart.
A Dear Friend
Not too long ago, I was requested by the father-in-law of a dear friend to photograph her interment and succeeding celebration of life. Easily, the most difficult assignment I've ever agreed to take on. It's hard to be objective when the subject is close to you, not to mention having to fight off tears while getting odd looks from people who mistook me for the press. But I was here to capture the final glimpses of a soul on earth, the people who loved her, their emotions, and the passing of time. I was grateful to be there.
